LED lights
LED lights have been on the market for many years, but mainly for car lighting and decorative lighting. In the past few years LED bulbs are introduced as a direct replacement to the high-powered consumption halogen bulbs, but response to the LED bulbs has been moderate due to its pricing. Now, manufacturers are launching the next generation of LED lighting which is cheaper in price and longer life expectancy.
The bulbs come in all shapes and sizes, eg. down lights, spot lights, flood lights, fluorescent tubes, ceiling lights, garden lights and street lights. Prices on them are still more expensive than the incandescent bulbs and the low energy bulbs, but the advantages for using LED bulbs are -
1) no mercury content
2) no ultra violet radiation
3) life expectancy between 30,000-80,000 hours (type of bulbs variance)
4) consume only 10-20% when compared with normal bulbs
5) eco-friendly
